Artes Visuales

Hello, my wonderful artists of Newlands!

What a whirlwind of creativity we've experienced in the art room this year! Our talented bunch of artists have been busy unleashing their imaginations and mastering various mediums to visually express their ideas.

Our Grade 4/5/6 students kicked off the year with a celebration of Sevilla's art, creating vibrant posters using watercolours. The magic happened as they honed their skills in techniques like wet-on-wet, dry brushing, and outlining.

The Grade 3/4's delved into surrealism with the eccentric Salvador Dali as their guide. Dreams came to life as they constructed their own melted clocks and later put a playful spin on them with their 'Son of Man' parodies. The surreal world truly became a playground for their artistic imaginations.

Our littlest artists in Foundation/1 have been on an adventure of their own, exploring the wonders of colour mixing with everything from paint to shaving cream. They made clay fish to master the art of making simple forms.

As we bid adios to 2023, I want to extend my warm wishes to every one of you and may your days be filled with fun and laughter. I look forward to seeing you in 2024, ready to make more messy masterpieces.

As a farewell gesture, I have compiled a short clip of all the highlights we have had in the art room together.

Warmest Regards,

Margaret
