Music and Performing Arts

Hola leyendas,

Thanks for the fantastico year in Music and Performing Arts. It's been excellent working with all the students exploring reading music, playing percussion, glockenspiel, ukulele and keyboards, as well as diving into Performing Arts drama and dance.

To close the year Prep-1s have been exploring duets of Heart and Soul learning the left hand on keyboard of C EG EG EG,  A CE CE CE, F AC AC AC, G BD BD BD and the melody on glockenspiel and the 7 keyboards we have. Those who can play both versions have worked on breaking up the chords using arpeggios, playing through the chord tones in different orders.

They have also looked at Jingle Bells in time for the end of the year family sing-a-longs. 

In Performing Arts, they have acted out different scenarios for the class to guess with dialogue and movement.

2-3s have been shredding on the ukulele, exploring the TAB and chord diagrams. They have looked at Am, C, G and F Chords. They have looked at three different strumming patterns to make the chord changes more fluent. They have been working on short melodies also.

4-6s have worked on their remixes, looking at elongating and shortening sample durations, changing their pitch higher or lower and creating repeated patterns (ostinatos) to make a verse or chorus. They have looked at adding effects to a waveform and combining parts from multiple songs.
