What's Been Happening?

Year 6 Big Day Out!

The Year 6's were treated to an amazing day out with their teachers to celebrate the culmination of their time at St Cecilia's. It was a little hard to tell who had the better time though, the students or the teachers.

St Cecilia's Feast Day & St Cecilia's Got Talent

St Cecilia's Got Talent is always a highlight and the talent hit new heights this year, from singing in foreign languages to stand up comedy to a blindfolded pianist, we had it all.

We can't wait to see what next year brings!

Congratulations to our winners...

Year 2 Making a Difference for Children in Kenya!

Thanks to Ms Louise Wood who once again brought in goods produced by a community in Kenya that she has ties to. The beaded jewelery was sold by our Year 2 students today with an overwhelming response from our families. Without a final count, the students estimated that over $500 dollars was raised which will go directly to supporting the community to continue to provide services and education to children and their families.

Thank you to Pauline Kilduff and Helen Lloyd for working with the students and Louise to support this wonderful initiative.

 Year 3s First School Camp!

After returning from our overnight camp last week, the students were given the opportunity to write a persuasive letter to Mr Mooney asking to go back to The Briars for another week.  Here’s a sample of what they wrote...

Dear Mr Mooney

I am writing to you to strongly suggest that Year 3 should 100% go back to The Briars camp for 1 WEEK and here are my reasons why…

Don’t YOU want for kids to have LOADS of fun? At The Briars nearly ALL the kids had fun! Trust me.

Shouldn’t we have responsibility? Well, at camp we had lots of responsibility. Duty groups had to set and wipe the tables before and after eating. This will help us when we are older.

Last but not least, the adventure activities.  They were amaZING! We all loved the flying fox, giant swing, crate stacking and hut building because they were awesome and fun. They also helped us with our social skills such as working together, which is important for our learning at school.

In conclusion, for all my reasons about having fun, responsibility and social skills, I believe Year 3 should most definitely go back to The Briars for another week!

Kind regards, Olivia Ma.

Dear Mr Mooney

I am writing to you to strongly suggest that Year 3 should go back to The Briars camp for another week.  You are probably thinking ‘Why?’ Here are the reasons why…

The adventures were amazing and lots of fun.  We all loved the giant swing, flying fox, hut building and crate stacking.  All the activities were so fun but also involved teamwork, making new friends and getting to know people better.

The food that we were having was delicious and very healthy because we ate peas, corn, carrots and chicken.  And we only had a little bit of chocolate cake.

When we got in our cabins, my cabin friends and I talked all night and got to sleep at 11pm and woke up at 6.30am.

To sum up, this was a great camp to start with and I definitely think that we should come back to The Briars camp.

WE NEED TO GO BACK TO CAMP NOW!

Dear Mr. Mooney,

I am absolutely certain that we must go back to the Briar’s camp because it’s an amazing opportunity to learn independence, teamwork, and to have lots of fun with your friends.

To begin with, you have a chance to experience independence.

You get to stay away from home and hang out with your friends, and you also have the responsibility of looking after your things on your own.

Secondly, you have a lot of fun. You get the joy and suspense of finding out who’ll be in your activity group and cabin. It’s practically a giant far- away-from-home sleepover, but with everyone in the grade.

Finally, you get to try new things, such as food or activities.

You get to step out of your comfort zone and do crazy new things with your friends. It’s also great to try new foods. When you go to camp, you might try a new food and love it!

For all these reasons…

Please take us back to the Briar’s camp!

Year 2 Masterchef Christmas Edition!

The annual Year 2 Chirstmas Masterchef was back with a vengeance! Thank you to all the parents who help prepare and purchase ingredients and those who came along on the day to assist as well. Thank you also to our special guest judge, the connoisseur of cuisine herself, Mrs Hoy!

Check out just a few of the amazing creations.

A new St Cecilia's Sports Polo top - Get it for 2024!

We are very pleased to announce that we have updated the sports polo top element of the school uniform. You can see in the image above the new design. This new garment is also made of a lighter, more breathable, flexible and quicker drying material.

Students will now be able to wear this new polo top as part of their sports uniform. For the time being and for a reasonable time to come, students will be able to wear either the new or old polo to allow a transition period.
