Catholic Identity and Mission

Fundamental to our role as a Catholic College is that we take up the challenge of social justice and support those in our community who need assistance.
The Advent period is a time of preparation for the birth of Jesus. While we appreciate that historically speaking, December 25 is not the literal date of the birth of Jesus, it is the date that Christians choose to celebrate the gift of Christ and his message of love and compassion.
Jesus was a revolutionary. He taught us that we are to give beyond our level of comfort.
And so it is with this awareness, as well as the awareness that there are a lot of families who are feeling the financial pinch, that we launch our Christmas Baskets Appeal.
Each House will have three baskets and we ask all students to contribute at least one item, to one of the baskets.
Every donation makes a difference. Donations will be gathered over the Headstart period and delivered to Vinnies and BawBaw Food Relief.
Basket 1 is for Food.
Any long-life items are welcomed and we encourage you to consider food items that you would eat and share with your own families.
Basket 2 is for Toiletries and Personal Hygiene Products.
Haircare, tooth care, sunscreen and skin care as well as sanitary items. nappies in their original packaging would be welcomed.
Basket 3 is for Gifts or New Clothing.
This is in addition to the Lourdes Giving Tree, so it would be wonderful if this could be an additional item.
And for families with teenagers who have part-time jobs, it might be the time that you encourage your child to consider purchasing and contributing their own donation. What an incredible gift, to teach them the value of giving.
With thanks for all of the support you give to our fundraising efforts. The community groups that we support are feeling the pinch this year and express their gratitude for all donations given.
