Dendy Athletics

A huge day last Friday with 60 kids heading out to McKinnon Reserve Athletics Track to compete in the Dendy Athletics. The sun was shining, attitudes were positive and overall the day was a wonderful success. We had students from Grades 3 to 6 competing in all different kinds of Track and Field events with everyone doing a superb job in their events.

We were fortunate to have some students place overall or in their specific heats which is a terrific achievement in itself.

Thank you to all who helped out on the day both parents and teachers and thank you to those who were able to come out and support for the time period they were there. It’s great to have such great support.

We had some records broken by a few of our students which is incredible for them. Flynn M (6P) now holds the 12/13 Boys 80m Hurdle record, running it in 15.96 seconds and Liam S (5A) now holds the 9/10 year old Boys Discus, with a throw of 19.27m. Congratulations and well done!

Book Week

Last week we celebrated Book Week. The 2023 theme of Book Week was ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’ and we enjoyed weaving this through our week of events. Each year since 1945 the CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through the celebration of Children's Book Week. Throughout the week we explored the short listed books, students participated in the Book Week competitions, they read with buddy classes, students were visited by authors Kelly Wilson and Kaz Goodwin, the Year 6 students visited the State Library and we finised off the week dressing up as our favourite book characters. Well done to the library leaders for running the assembly and reading one of the winning books to the school community.
