Child Safe Standards
The Child Safe Standards commenced on 1 July 2022, replacing the Child Safe Standards that were established in 2016. There are 11 Child Safe Standards that aim to protect children and young people, by requiring organisations to put policies, procedures and processes in place to prevent and respond to abuse. The aim of these standards is to keep children and young people safe.
Standard 9: Physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing while minimising the opportunity for children and young people to be harmed
Our school at a minimum will ensure:
- that staff and volunteers identify and mitigate risks in the online and physical environments without compromising a child’s right to privacy, access to information, social connections and learning opportunities.
- that the online environment is used in accordance with the school’s Code of Conduct and Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy and practices.
- that risk management plans consider risks posed by organisational setting, activities and the physical environment.
- that organisations that contract facilities and services from third parties have procurement policies that ensure the safety of children and young people.
A reminder that photos taken of other students during presentations should not be posted on social media platforms unless permission has been given by the other parties involved.
