Principal's Report

Report from our Principal: Duncan Arendse

Dear Parents, Friends and Father Arsenio,

Thanks to everyone who supported the Art Show last week. I was amazed at the sheer quality of the work on display and the grand final of the talent show was a favourite as well. It was a superb all round effort by all concerned.

The next major event will take place in the first week back next term. The fete is a huge event if you have not experienced one previously. With over 10,000 people in attendance last year this year is sure to be similar. The committee is in desperate need of a coordinator for three of their biggest stalls: Books, second hand clothing and the Trash and Treasure. The main task is rostering on volunteers throughout the day and a little preparation before hand. Please see me if you can assist. If we do not have coordinators by Friday THESE STALLS WILL NOT RUN.

Our leadership team is continuing to look at the straight grades proposal. Given the initial feedback from parents we are looking at the research and are now modelling what our school could be, if we do shift. I want to reiterate that no decision has been made at this point and if this means waiting till next year, that is ok because we want to get this right. Our students and staff in particular deserve that.

Our P&F have done a wonderful job to date in firstly coordinating events at our school as well as raising funds for our new 'Ninja Playground.' They surveyed our community and have taken the feedback on board firstly in relation to events either side of the fete as well as a 'less is more' approach to the first half of next year. Lauren and the exec will provide further information.

I would be very appreciative if you could take the time to complete the annual MACSIS survey sent out recently. I deliberately asked for access for all families as I would love as many completed as possible. Rest assured not only do we look at the results we use them to formulate our Annual Action Plan as well.

I would like to acknowledge our dedicated staff as we come to the conclusion of the term. I cannot express my gratitude enough for their dedication to our students and the work that goes on behind the scenes to improve our teaching and learning program. I really do hope they all have a restful break.

Have a great week

Duncan
