RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS
RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS
Earlier this year, our school had the opportunity to complete a survey regarding our Respectful Relationships program. 300 students, and 20 staff members took time to complete the survey, and we thank them all for their considered responses.
Our student results indicated that our student body have much higher confidence than most other schools in Victoria in
- Recognising when a relationship is bad or unsafe
- Knowing how to help a friend when they are getting hurt or feeling unsafe
- Telling a partner what they want from a relationship
Our data also identified that students had lower understanding than other Victoria students when it came to
- Gender and leadership
- The importance of education about gender equality
- Unpacking gender roles in relationships
This is valuable, as it gives the Respectful Relationships team areas to work on to improve student understanding and confidence. The team will work alongside the Health and PE department to ensure that these areas are a focus over the next 12 months.
Our staff results demonstrated that compared to other Victorian school staff, KSC staff have
- Much higher understanding of the link between prevention of family violence and the Respectful Relationships program
- Much higher experience of professional learning on the Teaching and Learning materials and curriculum
- Much higher recognition of school leaders valuing, supporting and promoting gender equality
- Much higher on policies and procedures to support gender equality and respectful relationships
This strong foundation ensures that our whole school approach to Respectful Relationships is promoted by all staff in our community, reinforcing student growth and learning.
