Principal for a Day

Well done to those who organised the ‘GOLD’ parent event and I am delighted to say that Millie Campbell will be the new Principal for Monday! OK – Yes, I will tun up and support her in this role, but I feel she will be very confident and comfortable. From all accounts, the night was a huge success and I thank all the organisers.

Buildings and Grounds

We are now in conversations with architects and builders to ignite our Astro turf project. I have several meetings next week to launch this, as well as meetings with signage teams to ensure our school is well and truly represented in the local community. I thank school council subcommittees for their hard work and dedication to improving our school.

NAPLAN

Our whole school NAPLAN results have been received and there is much to celebrate across cohorts. The Year 3 Reading results were outstanding at 90 percent with similar schools at 85 percent and the state results at 70 percent for the exceeding or strong categories. The Year 3 Numeracy results were at 92 percent in the exceeding or strong categories with similar schools at 84 percent and the state at 67 percent. Likewise, the Year 5 writing results were at 88 percent in the strong and exceeding categories with the state results at 75 percent. With Year 5 Grammar and Punctuation we achieved 82 percent in these high categories, with the state result at 64 percent.

Parent Opinion Survey

Each year the school conducts an opinion survey amongst a sample of the school community. This year we extended the parent survey to all families to participate. Results will be used to inform and direct our future school planning and improvement.

Online Safety Reminder

It’s not possible to be at your child’s side every second of the day, so it’s important to talk with them about online safety issues to help develop their critical thinking and ability to make good choices. It’s also good to let them know they can come to you for help. You may feel they know more about the latest technology than you do, but you have more life experience to guide them.

  • Take the opportunity to set some boundaries around when and where they can use devices like tablets, smart TVs and gaming consoles, to help limit potential tech tantrums.
  • While you are all at home, it’s a great time to co-view and co-play with your kids, so you can understand what they are doing and experiencing online.
  • Learn about the games, apps, social media and platforms they are using at the E-Safety Guide, including how to protect their information and report inappropriate content or conduct.
  • Encourage them to explore E-Safety’s targeted advice for kids (primary school) and young people (secondary school).
  • Check E-Safety’s tips for talking with your child about tricky personal subjects like online pornography

Enrol Now for 2024

We are open for 2024 enrolments and forms are available on the school website. If you have a child turning 5 by April 30, 2024, please complete an enrolment form and supply a copy of your child’s birth certificate and immunisation record and we will process the enrolment immediately. These documents can be emailed or posted to the school. It helps us enormously with planning, if we have a clear indication of enrolments as early as possible.

Health and Wellbeing

Just as we set aside time to do physical exercise, it is important we all make time each day to check in on mental health and wellbeing.
