Please keep a lookout for these in your cupboards, school bags, dirty clothes baskets even under beds. We are still missing a considerable amount of shirts which will be required to be handed out for Gala day. 

GALA DAY

Netball

Event Date: Friday 15th September 2023. 

Time: 8:45am

Event Venues: Sports Dome Netball complex, Jack Smyth Drive, Tamworth 

Equipment & Uniform: Students are to wear their full school Netball uniform. Students are advised to bring sunscreen and hats to wear at the trials. Please remember to bring adequate water for the day. If you require a netball uniform, please email Mrs Gippel. nmcculloch@arm.catholic.edu.au

Catering at the venue: There will be canteen facilities available.

UMPIRING: if you are able to umpire or have a highschool student who is willing to umpire a team for the day, please email Mrs Gippel nmcculloch@arm.catholic.edu.au

Saturday Netball

This Saturday is the  annual Dotty day to raise funds for the Leukaemia foundation. It also saw all our 10 years and under teams play their last game for the season. All of our players improved so much and I know that their parents and coaches are extremely proud of them. Good luck to our 11yr and 12yr teams that play in the semis this weekend. 

St Ed’s Comets played their last round game of netball for 2023. The Comets won 11 games, 2 losses and 1 draw. A special thank you to super Coach Mrs D. All the girls have improved so much under your guidance. Can’t wait for next year.

Netball Party

Due to the large number of St Edward's teams that have made the Netball finals we will hold our annual Netball party the First Friday afternoon back in Term 3. Please keep an eye out in the Newsletter for more information.

Koori Netball knockout

On Sunday 27 September, Ivy Allan, Sienna Erich and Sunny Jackson played Netball at the Tamworth Koori Netball Knockout. Sunny had an amazing time playing with her sister, Lola Jackson representing Tamworth White. Ivy and Sienna played with the Baawaas (sisters), they played 6 rounds and went through the carnival undefeated. All the miyays (girls) played with such pride.

Soccer

Congratulation to the Moore Creek Mountain Goats Under 12 team who were crowned minor premiers. This team had an amazing season, coming out on top undefeated.

BOXING 

Reid had his first fight on the weekend at the National Golden Gloves Tournament in Brisbane. He made the final of the school age 32kg C Final. It was a tough bout and he went down in a points decision. Pretty impressive for his first fight coming away with the Silver Gloves (runner-up) in this prestigious tournament. Congratulations Reid!

Swimming News

Lucie completed at the Short Course Swimming Area Championships in Armidale, on the Weekend Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th August. Lucie placed 2nd in both the 50m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle. And was a part of 2 relays that both came 2nd. Lucie also gained a qualification time for the Country Championships in the 50m Butterfly. 

Lucie is also only 2 seconds away from have NSW State Championship Qualification times. Congratulations Lucie! What an amazing achievement.

Basketball 2023 Summer Comp (2nd Comp)

Just a few things to keep in mind from Tamworth Basketball:

1. No Zone Defence is to be played in the Primary Competition.
2. Teams who attain a 30-point lead during a game must retire to halfway after scoring further goals. Teams who attain a 50-point lead during a game must retire to their 3-point line in their half after scoring further goals. (All Game Rules can be found on each score bench for further details).
3. If a player is missing from the team list on the tablet, please don’t add them. Please let the Court Supervisors know so that the issue can be resolved.
4. Each team is to provide one person for scoring. This is an easy job and Court Supervisors and Referees are more than happy to help with learning the ropes. We have also provided information sheets on all benches to help with the operating of the clocks and tablets.

Touch

Tamworth Junior Touch Football Competition

Nippers (Kindergarten-Year 2) Touch Football will commence on Monday 21st August 2023 and finish on Monday 13th November 2023. 

Games are played at 4.20pm each Monday.

There will be 5 weeks of Skills in Term 3 and 5 weeks of games in Term 4.

Cost $40 – plus $15 for singlet (new players only)

Search for ‘Tamworth’ and look for Nippers S2 2023

You will also be charged an annual Insurance fee of $22.00 when registering on MySideline. 

The Primary (Years 3-6) Competition will commence on Monday, 21st August  2023 and finish on Monday 4th December 2023. 

There are two time slots played each week. 

Year 3 – Year 4 play at 4.20pm. 

Years 5 – 6 play at 5.10pm. 

Cost $50

Register a team or register as a player and we will form a team.

Players need to register and pay via MySideline at https://profile.mysideline.com.au/register/

Search for ‘Tamworth’ and look for the relevant comp for your child

e.g. 3/4 Girls or 5/6 Boys

Gymnastics

Amity Wall attended the NSW gymnastics state championships in level 6 division 1. She came first on bars and 3rd on floor coming in 8th overall.

The Armidale Diocesan Primary Sports Council is a body representative of the Catholic Education Office, Principals and Sports Coordinators from all Diocesan Primary Schools. The ADPSC offers a pathway for Armidale Diocesan students in most sports.
