Principal's Message

This morning we came together with Year 12, their family and friends to share and celebrate their graduation. It was the culmination of 13 years of primary and secondary education and the celebration of achievement, friendship and many wonderful memories made through a shared education.

I’m immensely proud of all eleven of our Year 12 cohort. They are each fine people who have made a positive impact on our school and I am sure they will do the same in chosen career and the communities they chose to reside in in the future.

I’d like to thank their Year Adviser, Mr Alex Malcolm who took over the reigns from Ms Sarita Mallinson four years ago when she went on maternity leave. It was particularly special for the students to have had Ms Mallinson return to WWHS this year and to have both Year Advisers present for their graduation. Thanks also go to all of our teachers who have diligently prepared these young people for not just their HSC exams, but played an important role in preparing them for life beyond high school.

Congratulations to Tanika, Mackenzie, Charlie and Caitlyn for their early entry offers to university. I am sure there will be a few more in the coming weeks as universities finalise their offers.

A number of our students have also secured permanent positions or are close to finalising this Congratulations to Billy Brodigan who continues with his apprenticeship, now on a full time basis.

Today, we also announced our new student leaders. I am pleased to share with you that our student leadership team for the balance of 2023 and 2024 are; Captains - Megan Crutcher and Jackson Humphries, Vice Captains - Lacey Evans and Chelsea Humphries. Congratulations to each of these students. I am sure you will perform your role diligently and admirably.

Congratulations also goes to our new Student Representative Councillors. They are; Loela Palmer (Year 7), Rakaia Skinner (Year 8), Jett Palmer (Year 9), John Brodigan (Year 10) and Toby Galagher (Year 10). With Ms Blewitt taking long service leave, Ms Mallison has taken on the role of the SRC coordinator. Thank you to both of you.

After much hard work and planning, we have been able to introduce Equestrian Sports as a sport choice this term. Thank you to all of our staff and the parents who made this wonderful opportunity possible for students.

I am pleased to report that our enrolments for 2024 are very strong. The highest they have been for quite a few years. Thank you to our dedicated staff who make Wee Waa High School and appealing choice of school for students and families in the Shire.

Congratulations to our inclusive sports team who under the guidance of Mr Scott Hogden have earnt a spot in the NSW state finals for ten pin bowling. We’re extremely proud of you.

This term we were pleased to welcome back from leave, Ms Lisa Currey and next term we are delighted to welcome back our Librarian, Ms Sally Cain from maternity leave. Ms Cain will be working Mondays and Tuesdays.

Lastly, congratulations to Kylie Thomas who was the successful applicant for a permanent School Administration Support role. Kylie has been with us for some time on a temporary basis.

I wish you all an enjoyable Spring break. To our staff and students, take time to rest and recharge, ready for a great Term 4.

Yours sincerely
