Year 8 New Norcia Retreat Day
On Wednesday 23 August 2023, our Year 8 students travelled to New Norcia for a retreat day. The purpose of a retreat day is to help students develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationship with Jesus Christ and the Christian community.
The students spent time in the New Norcia Gallery, toured the townsite, and reflected on the Six Seasons Panels and the Prendiville Room. Through these activities, the students learnt about the Benedictine community founded by our College patron, Bishop Rosendo Salvado, as well as about the Aboriginal culture and people from this area. The students also enjoyed prayers with the Benedictine monks in the Abbey Church after relaxing on the grass for lunch in the beautiful surrounds of this historic town.
Thank you to our wonderful parents for bringing the students to school very early! Your support is always valued. A HUGE thank you also to the teachers and EAs who attended - Mr Runco, Mrs Burrows, Mrs Knight, Mr Langley, Mrs Sundararajan - for your amazing efforts on the day guiding the students' engagement in this unique experience.

The Mission of the Church in the Modern World in Light of Vatican II
The Second Vatican Council says that the Church has a particular salvific mission in the world today (LG, 30). In order to fulfil this mission, we as the Church are called to discover the active love and mercy of God in our lives to become the light that is a guide for the world. As the people of God, we are called to announce the Gospel and show signs of faith that will draw others into a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Join us for a series of talks on the rediscovery of faith and the mission of Church in times of uncertainty and confusion.
