A Message from the Principal

Salvado Catholic College is not just a place of learning; it is a thriving community of students, parents/caregivers, educators, and staff members who come together to create a supportive and nurturing environment for all. Community spirit is the heart and soul of our college. It's the intangible force that brings us together, regardless of our diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. It's the shared sense of belonging and pride that unites us under a common goal: to provide the best possible education and growth opportunities for the students of Salvado Catholic College.

The FoS Quiz Night which was held on Saturday 26 August is an example of an event which has positively contributed to the Salvado community spirit. Thank you to the wonderful FoS Quiz Night Committee of Jaime Lewis, Tayla Bell & Natalie Blackwell for their fabulous organisation of the event. Thanks also to teacher Mr Jason Meynell who was the MC for the night. His questions certainly challenged those in attendance, particularly the Year 7 Curriculum round. A big 'Thank You' to the parents, caregivers and staff who attended and helped out on Saturday night. It was a fabulous evening. The funds that were raised on the night will be used to install the Cricket Pitch on the College Oval which is a component of the Stage 5 build.

Congratulations to the College Primary Choir, they have been awarded an Excellence Award for their performance in the Sacred Choral (Primary Non Auditioned) category in the Catholic Performing Arts Festival. Thank you to Mr Paul Leeder, Music Teacher and Mrs Stephanie Port, EA, for the wonderful work they did in preparing the students for their performances. Finally, 'Well Done' to all the students in Year 3 to Year 6 who represented Salvado Catholic College so proudly on the day.

Book Week

This week we have celebrated Book Week with our College Book Fair, Book Week Parade and Open Night on Wednesday Night. There has been a wonderful atmosphere around the College this week as the students have truly gotten into the spirit of the week. It was fabulous to see so many students and staff dressed up for the parade on Wednesday. Thank you to all the parents/caregivers who prepared the costumes for our students - your creativity was amazing. Thanks also to Abinaya Krishnan and Mrs Judy Schwarz for coordinating the Book Fair.

College Psychologist Services

Last week, the College welcomed Provisional Psychologist, Mrs Alison Watt. Mrs Watt will be working Thursday and Friday each week with Senior College Psychologist, Ms Sandhia Naidu working Monday to Wednesday. We are very fortunate to have Sandhia and Alison supporting our students.

Building Update

Salvado Catholic College continues to expand and grow as we move towards becoming a Pre-K to Year 12 College. The new Student Services facilities currently being added to the existing Administration building are progressing well and we are hoping they will be ready for the start of the 2024 school year. The construction of Stage 5 (seven secondary Learning Spaces and the College Oval) will commence soon with the completion of the oval expected by the end of Term One 2024 and Learning Spaces ready for the start of 2025. The College has recently been given approval to proceed to tender for Stage 6 which will include additional secondary Learning Spaces and staff work areas.

Peace & Goodness to all,

Ian Hagen
