Confirmation Spirituality Day
As part of our Confirmation Sacramental Program, the Year 5 and 6 students took part in a Spiritual Reflection Day on Wednesday, 19 November 2025. The day was designed to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith and the significance of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Students explored the life and legacy of St Mary MacKillop, Australia’s first saint, during a self-guided visit to the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre in East Melbourne. This experience offered meaningful insights into her mission, values, and her extraordinary contribution to Catholic education and social justice.
The day also included a visit to St Patrick’s Cathedral, facilitated by Fr Nicholas, where students took time to appreciate the sacredness of the space and its importance within the Catholic tradition.
To conclude the experience, students participated in a “Gifts of the Holy Spirit” pilgrimage walk through Fitzroy Gardens, providing an opportunity for quiet reflection on the gifts they will receive in Confirmation.
This special day helped inspire faith, encourage spiritual growth, and support students in connecting more deeply with their journey toward Confirmation.

Spirituality Day’s special excursion will have a place in my heart. The experience was incredible, especially when we visited St Patrick’s Cathedral. The atmosphere was very reverent and beautiful, and it felt very spiritual and special for me, since I am a Confirmation candidate. (Amethyst, 5/6N)
On Wednesday 19th the 5/6s went to the St Patrick’s Cathedral to visit where the Confirmation candidates will receive their Confirmation. During this experience, we learnt about relics and how there are three different kinds of relics: 1st class, 2nd class and 3rd class relics. A first class relic is a body part of the saint, a second class relic is something that belonged to the saint, and a third class relic is something that the saint has touched. We had also looked at a replica of St Mary MacKillop’s bedroom which also had real relics from her actual room such as her wheelchair and her tea cup which you can see on her side table. (Audrey, 5/6AH)
On Wednesday, we had our Spirituality Day. This day was a special, fun and holy day, filled with the spirit of God. I really felt happy, I don't know if it was because of my friends or because of the presence of God next to me. When I was in the chapel, I felt this connection next to me, like someone was next to me, guiding me through my prayers. Then I realised, it was God, guiding me through all of the prayer. I felt fresh, like I was clean of my sins, like I was clean to the flesh. I had the feeling of God and nothing else will match it. (Chris, 5/6AH)
Our day in the city was great - from the adventures on the train and the breath-taking scenes at the Cathedral. Thank you to all the teachers and parent helpers for making this day a memorable experience. Thank you, Hang, for organising this very special event. (Oslo, 5/6N)
