Learning In My Level

Newsletter Term 4 Week 10 year 6

Wow! What a year we have had in level 6, I think we can speak for everyone when we share our shock at how fast the last term has flown. We have had an exciting term in grade 6, enjoying our Zoo excursion and preparing for the end of the student’s primary school journey.

We have been part-time performers getting ready for Graduation and carols this term. Weekly practise of our graduation dances and getting our voices in tune for carols. Out Zoo excursion was thrilling! Students visited all the animals and went to an hour information which was about animal adaptations, reflective of our inquiry unit this term. In Inquiry we have learnt about animal and plant adaptations to environments and for survival over the term.

In writing this term, students completed their “what does happiness mean to me” speech. These were presented with passion and purpose. Students created legacy letters with future ideas for Rangeview and completed Christmas narrative picture story books to gift to their foundation buddy. These were so beautifully illustrated and so adored by the foundation students. In Reading we have been reading “The Explorer” by Katherine Rundell as a whole class. We have been focusing on different reading strategies and unpacking the themes and characters within the story.  In Maths we have been learning about data, probability, time and measurement. Much to the students delight, we have finished all of our assessments for the year!

As the week’s wrap up we are so excited for our end of year excursion to Flipout and Action Indoor Sports, Carols, Graduation, class parties and of course our final day. We are so proud of our grade 6’s and excited to see them move onto their next adventure!
