GERMAN AWARD 2025
This year’s German Award recognises a student who brings consistent enthusiasm, motivation and curiosity to every German lesson. She listens attentively, contributes thoughtfully to discussions, and regularly enriches her learning by using the German Word or Phrase of the Week. Her dedication and commitment towards her German language learning extends beyond the classroom, having participated in the AGTV German Poetry Competition for the past few years and achieving an outstanding 6th place at the state final this year. Her bookwork is always careful and thorough, and she approaches all tasks with focus, pride and a positive attitude.
It is with great pleasure that we present the German Student of the Year Award to Alysha Muhammad Al Fasha.
YEAR 6 CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT
In Week 9 all Year 6 students were awarded the German Certificates of Achievement.
These certificates, provided by the AGTV (Association of German Teachers of Victoria) acknowledge students’ developing oracy and literacy skills in German at primary school and highlight that these foundational skills are transferable to learning any language at secondary school.
So, no matter what language students go on to learn at secondary school, students were reminded that learning additional languages works much like learning new musical instruments: the skills you gain from mastering one—such as recognising patterns, building strategies, and developing a good ear—carry over and make the next one easier. Just as musicians become more versatile with each new instrument, language learners grow more confident and capable with each new language.
We wish all Year 6 students all the best with their future language learning!
GERMAN PIZZA PARTY
On Thursday, 4 December, students who participated in the AGTV Group Poetry Competition celebrated their success with a well-deserved Pizza Party.
In October, the team of Tiana, Theodora and Maheli (and Romeo as an actor) achieved first place, while Ari F, Tessa and Sanjay were awarded runners-up in the statewide competition. Their outstanding performances showcased excellent teamwork as they recited their chosen German poems with clarity, expression and confidence.
During the celebration, students enjoyed rewatching their winning performances, singing and dancing to German songs, and sharing generous servings of pizza and garlic bread. As part of their prize, students also received a framed certificate and a trophy to commemorate their achievement.
Herzlichen Glückwunsch! (Congratulations!)
