Principal's Message

Welcome BBQ Joy – Join us!
We are looking forward to welcoming families to our upcoming LPPS Welcome BBQ and hope to see as many of you there as possible.
The afternoon will begin with Parent Information Sessions, providing families with valuable insights into classroom routines, learning programs, expectations and what the year ahead will look like for your child. These sessions are a wonderful opportunity to connect with teachers and gain clarity about teaching and learning at Launch.
After the sessions, the fun begins! Students can enjoy the Slip and Slide and Foam Cannon, along with activities such as biscuit decorating and fake tattoos.
There will also be a free sausage sizzle and cordial available for families to enjoy. This is a simple way for us to come together, connect and celebrate the start of a new school year.
Events like this strengthen the partnership between home and school and help build the strong sense of community we value so highly at LPPS.
We can’t wait to see you there!
Our New Preps
We are absolutely delighted to officially welcome our newest learners to Launching Place Primary School — our wonderful 2026 Prep students.
The beginning of school is such a significant milestone for children and families alike, and we have been so impressed with the calm, confident and enthusiastic way our Preps have started their journey. They have already been busy learning classroom routines, making new friends and exploring their new learning environment.
Starting school is about much more than learning letters and numbers. It is about building independence, developing friendships, growing confidence and feeling a strong sense of belonging. Our Prep team has worked thoughtfully to ensure a smooth and supportive transition for every child.
We also extend a warm welcome to our Prep families. We look forward to partnering with you over the coming years and sharing in your child’s growth and achievements.
School Uniform Expectations
Wearing school uniform helps build a sense of belonging, pride and unity within our Launch community. We appreciate families supporting our uniform expectations.
Students are required to wear approved uniform items in the correct school colours:
Sky blue or navy blue polo tops
Navy blue pants, shorts, skirts or skorts
Uniform items do not need to display the school logo, however they must be in the approved colours outlined above.
In terms of footwear, students may wear runners in any colour. For safety reasons, Crocs and flip-flops are not permitted, as they present an Occupational Health and Safety risk during play and physical activity.
If families are experiencing difficulty accessing uniform items, please contact the school office, we are always happy to assist.
Best of Luck to Our Year 5/6 Campers!
We wish our Year 5 and 6 students an exciting and memorable experience as they head off to CYC City Camp from Monday 16 February to Wednesday 18 February.
City Camp provides a wonderful opportunity for students to step outside their usual routines and immerse themselves in rich learning experiences in Melbourne. Across the three days, students will participate in a range of engaging activities designed to build independence, teamwork, resilience and confidence, while exploring important cultural and historical landmarks.
Camps are such a valuable part of the primary school journey. They encourage students to challenge themselves, strengthen friendships and create lasting memories together. For many, this will be one highlight of their senior primary years.
We thank our staff for their organisation and care in preparing for camp, and we know our students will represent Launch with pride.
We look forward to hearing all about their adventures when they return!
A safe trip to and from school – Road Safety
The safety of our students is a shared responsibility, and we thank families for continuing to prioritise safe practices before and after school.
We ask all members of our community to please:
Observe school speed limits at all times
Use designated drop-off and pick-up zones correctly
Avoid double parking or stopping in unsafe locations
Park legally and walk your child safely across the road
Use the school crossing where available
Be patient and respectful towards other drivers, pedestrians and neighbours
The beginning and end of the school day are understandably busy times. A calm, patient approach helps ensure all children arrive and leave safely.
We also encourage families to continue reinforcing key road safety messages with children, including:
Stop, look, listen and think before crossing
Use crossings where available
Dismount bikes and scooters at crossings
Wear helmets when riding
Together, we can create a safe and supportive environment for all students travelling to and from Launch each day.
Student Wellbeing with Sonia
At Launching Place Primary School, we know that students learn best when they feel safe, supported and connected. We are fortunate to have Sonia, our Student Wellbeing Officer, working closely with students, families and staff to promote positive mental health and wellbeing across our school community.
Sonia can support students with a range of concerns, including:
Friendship challenges and social skills development
Emotional regulation and managing big feelings
Anxiety or worries about school or home
Confidence and self-esteem
Family changes or transitions
Attendance concerns
Building resilience and coping strategies
Support may take the form of one-on-one check-ins, small group programs, classroom sessions, or working alongside families and teachers to ensure students feel understood and supported.
If you feel your child may benefit from additional wellbeing support, we encourage you to reach out. Families can request support by:
Speaking directly with your child’s classroom teacher
Contacting the school office
Emailing the school to request a wellbeing referral
All requests are handled sensitively and confidentially.
Student wellbeing is a shared partnership between home and school, and we value working alongside families to ensure every child feels known, cared for and ready to learn.
Upcoming Parent/Teacher Interviews
To commence the year, we will be holding our Parent/Teacher Interviews in Week 4 on Thursday 19 February. The purpose of the interview is twofold. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend to:
· Meet their child’s teacher to begin an effective home/school partnership.
· Provide information to teachers regarding their child’s strengths, talents, issues or concerns.
Confidential information shared by parents to teachers will assist us to plan for and work as effectively as possible with you and your child throughout the year.
Bookings for interviews can be made through Compass.
