Year 5 Update

Year 5-Weeks 9&10
The Year 5 team is excited to share what we’ve been learning and celebrating over the past two weeks!
🎭 End of Year Extravaganza Year 5 has been rehearsing day and night for our performance at the End of Year Extravaganza! Students voted on the song, and the overwhelming winner was Last Christmas. We can’t wait to share our performance with you!
🦸 Superhero Day On November 21st, the whole school dressed up as superheroes to raise money for the Bully Zero Foundation. It was fantastic to see so many creative costumes supporting a great cause!
📚 English We’ve been reading Wonder by R.J. Palacio throughout Term 4 and are so close to finishing it! In our last full week together, we’ll watch the movie to compare and contrast with the book. Students have also been writing information reports on countries and topics they are passionate about.
📐 Math In Mathematics, we’ve explored angles and shapes. Students have been building nets to understand how 3D shapes are formed. We also learned to measure angles using semi-circle protractors, and some students even advanced to using 360° protractors!
🌍 Inquiry Our Inquiry focus has been Global Citizenship. We’ve discussed how individuals and communities can take action to reduce global inequalities and promote sustainability. Students are designing personal or class action plans to contribute to a fairer, more sustainable world.
