'A Welcoming Community Leading the Future of Learning with Faith and Love'
As we come to the close of another remarkable year, I am reminded once again why this season is one of my favourites. Our celebrations, concerts, picnics, transitions and graduation ceremonies all bring a special kind of joy—moments where we pause, reflect, and truly appreciate the journey we’ve taken together. These events allow us to rejoice in the achievements of our students and to share memories of the many experiences that have shaped our school community throughout the year.
One of the great privileges of my role is reading the students’ end-of-year reports. Each one tells a unique story of academic progress, personal growth, perseverance and discovery. It is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on their milestones, the challenges they’ve embraced, and the learning that has sparked curiosity and confidence. I could not be prouder of each student and the effort they bring to our school every single day.
I am also deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our parents, caregivers and wider community. Your partnership, encouragement and involvement make an extraordinary difference. Whether attending school events, supporting learning at home, or contributing your time and talents, you help create the nurturing environment that allows our students to thrive.

I am particularly grateful to the work our of Parent Committees including both the School Advisory Council and the Parent's Association. It is always affirming to celebrate the end of the year at the AGMs with both committees and look back at all we have achieved together. Special thanks to my Chair of the SAC, Angela Maclean for your dedication and support. Your energy and enthusiasm is contagious and your leadership in this role is greatly appreciated. I am also very grateful to Emily Boyd who was our Chair of the Parent's Association this year. Your time and expertise has been invaluable and we have managed to fundraise around $10,000 for the year which has gone towards our new Outdoor Furniture in the Passive Play area.

I am looking forward to celebrating with you all at our Christmas Concert this Thursday night and then on Monday night, 15 December, for our Whole School End of Year Mass.
This year has been filled with many special events and memorable moments—from whole-school celebrations to classroom projects and student-led initiatives. Each one has added richness to our school life and strengthened the sense of belonging we treasure so deeply.
We are thrilled to announce that we will have two new staff members for 2026. I have employed Tom Preston and Sebastian Vandenberg as two new class teachers. St John's will have 2 Prep classes, 2 x Year 1/2 classes, 2 x Year 3/4 classes and 2 x Year 5/6 classes next year.
We have received additional funding for the Mental Health in Primary Schools Government initiative and Mrs Tracey Farrar will take on this role alongside her Wellbeing role for 3 days, while supporting our Year 5/6 teachers for the other 2 days.
The full staff list for 2026 will be finalised and shared on the Whole School Transition Day, Monday, 15 November

Next Tuesday, students will have the opportunity to purchase some lovely products crafted and assembled by their peers. Items include bookmarks, cupcakes, beeswax wraps (containing a yummy wrap!), and gift hampers! Most items cost between $1- $5. Money raised will support the St Vincent's Christmas Appeal, and Community Housing Limited who provide homelessness assistance.
This is a cash-free event.
Parents can purchase $1 tokens via this link CDFpay app until 9pm Sunday 7 Dec.
If you are able to we encourage families to consider providing $5 - $10 per student so nobody misses out.

Our last Marathon Club for this year will be Wednesday 3 December.
All students who have attended Marathon Club this year are very welcome to come and join us for a special celebratory breakfast at Halliday Park.
Please meet in the school foyer (as usual) at 7.45am.
We look forward to seeing you there!
