SPOTLIGHT ON THE CLASSROOMS

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST WORKSHOP

During the last fortnight, we welcome Occupational Therapist, Louise Yarham into our school to support us as Educators with further professional development related to fine motor development. She worked with our teachers and students in the classroom demonstrating an array of activities that we can continue to implement to support the development of fine motor skills. Louise will meet with our teachers again during next term to discuss the research behind the activities and provide further support materials. The children were very excited to take home their 'chocolate' playdough along with some activities that they can continue to work on at home with the playdough. Here are some photos of the shaving cream activities.

'LITTLE STARS' TRANSITION PROGRAM

During the last fortnight our Kindergarten Transition Program was in full swing, offering an exciting learning and fun. The children enjoyed gardening, where they learned about caring for our veggie plants. Indoors, students participated in craft, playdough activities and putting together puzzles which helped develop their fine motor skills. Using actions like squeezing, squashing, and pulling apart, the children strengthened their hand muscles in preparation for writing and other classroom tasks. It was wonderful to see their creativity and confidence develop!
