Year 10 and 12 Students Visit Farm House Cafe Kedron
On a crisp and sunny winter's morning over two days, our Year 10 and 12 Hospitality students were treated to an unforgettable excursion to the renowned Farm House Cafe Kedron - a local gem known for its fresh, locally sourced produce and warm, rustic charm.
From the moment we arrived, the peaceful ambiance and tasteful buzz of the cafe set the tone for a truly enriching experience. Students were welcomed with beautifully crafted drinks and delicious food, showcasing the cafe’s commitment to quality and presentation. The outdoor seating, surrounded by greenery and the gentle hum of conversation, created the perfect setting for both relaxation and learning.
The highlight of the visit was a behind-the-scenes discussion with owner Amanda Scott and manager Seaton, who generously shared their insights into the intricacies of running a successful hospitality business. From staffing challenges to the coordination between front and back of house, students gained a real-world understanding of the teamwork, communication, and leadership required in the industry.
Amanda and Seaton spoke candidly about the importance of building a strong team culture, managing peak service times, and maintaining high standards in both customer service and food quality. Their passion for hospitality was evident and inspiring, leaving students with a deeper appreciation for the dedication behind every plate served.
This excursion not only offered a taste of the industry but also sparked curiosity and motivation among our budding hospitality professionals. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the team at Farm House Cafe Kedron for their generosity and for providing such a valuable learning opportunity.

Site Tour of Brisbane Airport’s Aeromedical Centre
Last week, a group of construction students had the unique opportunity to tour the future site of Brisbane Airport’s cutting-edge Aeromedical Precinct, a transformative project set to redefine emergency medical services across Queensland.
Located strategically between Brisbane Airport’s twin runways, the Aeromedical Precinct is designed to centralise and enhance the operations of key emergency service providers, including the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), LifeFlight, Retrieval Services Queensland, and the Queensland Police Service Aviation Capability Group. The tour offered a firsthand look at the construction progress and the vision behind this $217 million initiative, which is being delivered in partnership with the Queensland Government 1.
Our students were guided through the 18,700m² facility footprint, which will eventually house state-of-the-art hangars, patient transfer facilities, and administrative headquarters. The precinct will also feature 17,800m² of tarmac parking, enabling rapid deployment of up to 26 aircraft. This centralised hub is expected to significantly improve response times and foster greater collaboration among emergency teams 1.
One of the highlights of the tour was learning about the facility’s commitment to sustainability. The development is targeting a 5 Star Green Star accreditation and will include a 400kW solar system, aligning with Brisbane Airport’s broader environmental goals 2.
Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff emphasized the importance of the project:
“The Aeromedical Precinct will provide the opportunity to connect regional Queenslanders with top-class medical facilities in Brisbane. It’s about saving lives and improving health outcomes for those in remote communities.”
With construction well underway and completion targeted for December 2026, the Aeromedical Precinct is poised to become a vital lifeline for thousands of Queenslanders each year. The site tour left attendees inspired and proud to be part of a project that will have such a profound impact on healthcare accessibility across the state.
Stay tuned for more updates as we follow the progress of this landmark development.
Thank you to Mr Andrew Martin (newly appointed construction teacher) for taking these students to a most unique opportunity.
