Grade 5/6 Winter Interschool Sport

Students played their second winter interschool match last Friday against Croydon Primary.  Our Netball Girls and Hot shots Girls teams’ won their matches with our soccer team coming back strong at the end and missing out on a win by one goal.

 

Team captains awards went to:

  • Hot shots Girls – Tilly, for being a reliable and dependable team member.

  • Netball Mixed – Pat, for his ‘never give up’ approach and role modelling positive sporting behaviour.

  • Soccer Mixed – Ronan for scoring the first goal which hyped up the team and made everyone try harder.

  • Volleyball Mixed – Parker for his resilience during the match.

  • Netball Girls – Kylie for always being in front of her player ready to receive or defend.

Our next match is against Marlborough Primary on Friday 13 June with all teams playing at Marlborough Primary in Heathmont. Matches will be played between approximately 9.25am and 10.25am.  Our last match is against Ainslie Parklands on 2 June.  All teams will be playing at Mullum.  Spectators are welcome. 

 

Division Cross Country Results 

On a very cold and muddy Tuesday 3 June Ernie, Zoe and Tom S competed in the Maroondah Division Cross Country at the Yarra Glen race course.  Congratulations to all of our runners for representing Mullum at this high level of competition. 

The results were – 

  • Zoe – 7th in the 9/10 year old girls
  • Ernie – 36th in the 9/10 year old boys
  • Tom S – 18th in the 12/13 year old boys.

Eastern Metropolitan Region Cross Country

Zoe in Grade 4 will compete in the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Cross Country on Thursday 12 June. We wish her all the best for a great race, and are thoroughly impressed with her dedication to training which has brought her tremendous success! Here she is, just before she heads off to run:

 

Whole School House Athletics – Tuesday 29 July

A reminder the whole school House Athletics will be held on the second Tuesday of Term 3.  Many parent helpers are required for this event to run.  If you are available, please let you child’s class teacher or Fiona Pumpa know.

  • Volunteer Foundation to Grade 2 parents are required – 10:30am to 12.45pm

  • Volunteer Grade 3 to 6 parents are required –  9.05am to 12.45pm

Please, make sure you have a Working With Children check and have done our Volunteer Induction.  Contact our school office if you need assistance with this easy process. Spectators are welcome.  A Compass notice will be emailed to all families later this term.
