This week our Grades 3-6s completed their Circle Weaving. Although learning to wrap a loom and weave threads under, over, under, over repeatedly was a challange, with practice and perseverance, our weaving came together beautifully. Take a look at the different textures and colour combinations our student achieved!
Winding wool is a great way to explore textiles. Foundation used cardboard looms and wound various threads around and around, making colourful wooly sheep. We then added cut felt features to make our version of "Where is the Green Sheep?" Can you find the Green Sheep?
Grade 1s are practicing their sewing so that they can make Treasure Bags to carry all of their special treasures in. We spent the lesson learning how to thread a needle and making running stitches in giant pieces of hessian. We even learned how to sew on buttons!
Grade 2s started making their Aussie Animal Hand Puppets this week. You may remember a few years back, if you were in Grade 2, how much you enjoyed making your puppet! We decided that this activity was such a hit, we would repeat the experience. I'm so proud of the expert sewing our Grade 2 students are capable of. Look at how tiny their stitches are!
