Out and About

Drama Department News: Term One highlights
It’s been a brilliant start to the year in Drama! Our students have hit the ground running, not just as emerging performers, but as brave, confident collaborators. We’ve seen them tackle performance nerves, take creative risks, and work alongside peers they might not usually partner with.
In Drama, we believe in creating a space where everyone feels supported, valued and encouraged to give it a go, because let’s face it, no one nails something the first time they try it! But with a deep breath, a bit of courage, and lots of encouragement, our students have taken to the stage (or classroom) and performed beautifully. It’s been heartwarming to see the way they cheer each other on, creating a space full of acceptance, creativity, and a whole lot of fun.
Our Senior Drama students have also been out exploring Adelaide’s theatre scene.
First stop: State Theatre Company’s production of The Dictionary of Lost Words — an incredible adaptation of Pip Williams’ beloved novel, brought to life by SA playwright Verity Laughton. Set in the world of words and dictionaries in 1901, it follows the journey of a young girl who discovers the word bondmaid is missing from the Oxford English Dictionary.
A beautiful, moving piece that left us all thinking about the power of language, and whose stories get told.
Then, we swapped period drama for disco balls and sequins, heading to Sister Act: The Musical at the Festival Theatre.
What. A. Show.
With music by the legendary Alan Menken (Aladdin, The Little Mermaid), this feel-good musical had us dancing in our seats.
Packed with soul, sass and so much energy, it’s officially our new favourite soundtrack (seriously, it’s on repeat in the Drama office).
A huge night of fun and joy, and for some students, their very first time seeing live theatre.
At Endeavour College, we’re passionate about giving students opportunities to experience high-quality, professional productions, not only to be inspired, but to see what’s possible in the world of performance. There’s something truly magical about live theatre; the energy, the storytelling, the connection, and we’re so excited to keep sharing that magic with our students throughout the year.

SACSA Cross Country
Last week, Endeavour proudly sent twenty-one students to compete in the SACSA Cross Country event. It was a beautiful day, sunny but not too hot, providing ideal conditions for our runners.
All students gave their best effort, which was fantastic to see. We’re especially proud of the five runners who placed in the top ten for their age group, and the 12 others who finished in the top twenty.
With over fifty competitors in each age group, this is an outstanding achievement. Congratulations to all our runners for their dedication, effort, and sportsmanship.
You’ve made Endeavour proud!

Shibui Dessert Cafe:
Stage 2 Food and Hospitality Excursion
On Thursday, 8 May, Stage 2 Food and Hospitality students visited Shibui Dessert Cafe as part of their ethically delicious AT1 task.
As well as learning the ethics behind the chocolate and coffee industry, students have also been exploring contemporary plating and the influence of technology in creating innovative food dishes.
The students were treated to a taster of over 20 different desserts which the chefs explained in detail covering the flavour profile and plating techniques.
We even got to see a demonstration of them plating their popular chocolate rose mousse! The students left full of inspiration and tips and tricks to apply to their own desserts.
We can't wait to see the final products!
