INCLUSION DAY
On Friday, St James Primary School celebrated our whole school Inclusion Day. It was a special day where students across all year levels took part in activities that helped us learn about inclusion, diversity, and the importance of treating everyone with respect. We explored how to be inclusive towards others in our classrooms, in the playground, and in the wider community.
We began the day with a game of Scoot, where scenario cards were spread around the room. In pairs, we moved from card to card, discussing whether each situation showed inclusion or not. It helped us think about how our choices can make others feel welcome or left out.
Throughout the day, we rotated through a range of fun, hands-on activities in mixed-age groups. These included cooperative games, storytelling sessions about different cultures, art projects celebrating what makes us unique, and role-plays showing how to include others in different situations.
To finish this meaningful day, we came together as a whole school for a special prayer service led by our Year 5 students. We reflected on what inclusion and diversity mean in our lives, and how we can continue to live these values every day. Junior students thought of Inclusion as a colour, symbol, and image, and Senior students created an Inclusion Headline. It was a beautiful way to end a day of learning, connection, and celebration.
