Education in Faith

Living the Gospel

Hi,

Our names are Matisse and Julian, your Mission Leaders. Did you know that on Friday 27th June we will be celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart. We are here to tell you about our St Vincent De Paul food drive. Starting on Wednesday 11th June, you will have a basket in your class.

These baskets are for St Vincent De Paul and you will be asked to bring tinned foods in to donate to people in our community who are less fortunate than us. Many of these people don’t get to always eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some foods you could bring in include pasta, baked beans, tinned tuna, rice and instant coffee. There is a list of items that St Vincent De Paul would appreciate which is in your classroom and in the newsletter.

We would really appreciate it if everyone could donate at least 1 or 2 items. Some people might even bring in more!

If you have any questions, please ask your teacher or us - we are in the Year 6 building.

Good luck everyone - let’s work together for a fabulous cause.

Inclusion Prayer Service

Thank you to our Year 5 students who led a wonderful Prayer Service about Inclusion. At this time we reflect on the many stories in the bible that demonstrate Jesus showing inclusion to all people. Here are a couple of examples that the students recognised.

1. Jesus Welcomes the Children Matthew 19:14

“Let the little children come to me… for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Jesus made time for children, showing that everyone, even the youngest, has a special place in God’s heart.

2. The Good Samaritan Luke 10:25–37

Jesus told the story of a man who helped someone from a different background, teaching us to show kindness to all people, regardless of race or religion.

3. Zacchaeus the Tax Collector Luke 19:1–10

Jesus invited Zacchaeus, a man many disliked, to share a meal. This reminds us that no one is ever left out in God's love.
