Join the advanced manufacturing program to develop a vehicle that will test the limits of Hive’s derby track!
Experience the thrill of the Hive Derby, where the current racers zoom across the 15-metre track at impressive average top speeds of 20 km/hr, crafted from their standard range of materials. Now, they are inviting the next generation of engineers and technologists to join in an exciting challenge: design and build your own derby car from scratch! Utilise cutting-edge design processes and apply physics theories to analyse and perfect your creation. In these weekly sessions, participants will work with Hive staff and guest presenters to work through the program.
Day 1 - Saturday 7 June
Experimentation & physics – engage experiments in the science of motion in the Science Centre.
Engineering – Identify mathematical parameters of vehicle.
