This week we have been enjoying learning about different countries and their cultures with guest speakers talking to us about Germany and Australia for our Inquiry Unit. In the coming weeks we will be continuing our world tour. Please have a chat with your child about their ‘Passport’ and the amazing places they will be visiting in the coming weeks.

This Monday the 2nd of June, Grade 2 will be presenting Prayer at assembly at 9am. Please feel free to come along and join us in prayer.

Year 1 Newsletter Update

We’ve had a busy and exciting few weeks in Year 1!

In Mathematics, we have been learning about measurement and capacity, exploring how to compare and describe different quantities.

In Literacy, students have been learning new sounds such as or, ore, ir, ur, and er. It’s been pleasing to see their progress as they apply these sounds in their reading and writing. In Writing, students are beginning to use words like before, after, and because to create more detailed and interesting sentences.

In Inquiry, we continue with the unit in Geography, where students are learning to make connections with different countries around the world. Each student has received a passport and will have the opportunity to "travel" to a range of countries. So far, Mrs Arundel has shared her experiences of Germany, and Miss Geilser has talked about Australia. In the coming weeks, we’ll be learning about countries such as Nepal, Canada, and Thailand.

We encourage you to talk with your child about the countries they are exploring and the cultures they are discovering.
