Gospel Reading

Luke 24: 46-53

Jesus is taken to heaven and the disciples remain in Jerusalem awaiting his sending of the Spirit.

Jesus’ ascension marked the end of his earthly mission and the beginning of the disciples’ mission.

What mission do you think Jesus is inviting you to take part in today?

What gives you hope and courage today?

Journeying with purpose, faith and compassion:

Mini Vinnies is a school-based initiative of the St Vincent de Paul Society that empowers primary school students to engage in social justice and charitable activities within their school and local community. Through regular meetings, students learn about social issues, develop leadership skills, and take action to support those in need.

 Mini Vinnies in Action-

Grade 6 students learning about people in need (locally and globally) and advocating for them.

Mini Vinnies groups operate on the principle of “See, Think, Do, Reflect”

  • See: Students identify social justice issues in their community.
  • Think: They reflect on these issues, considering how they align with their faith and values.
  • Do: They take action through initiatives such as fundraising, awareness campaigns, and direct service activities.
  • Reflect: A time to look back on our experiences and explore ways to grow and do better.

Personal and Communal Engagement:

Participation in Mini Vinnies helps students:

  • Develop empathy and a sense of social responsibility.
  • Enhance leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Deepen their understanding of Catholic social teachings.
  • Build connections with the wider community.

By engaging in these activities, students put their faith into action and learn the importance of serving others.
