Congratulations
Aziz ERYASAR
VET in School Student of the Year
Sydney South-West Region
Aziz Eryasar, a Year 12 student, decided in Year 11 to take a Vocational Education & Training (VET) course, specifically the Certificate III in Health Services Assistant with NSW Health at Fairfield Hospital.
For the past two years, Aziz has consistently attended his course every Tuesday afternoon and has also participated in work placements at Fairfield Hospital during school holidays.
In mid-June, I had the privilege of accompanying Aziz to the NSW Training Awards at Parramatta Town Hall, alongside his mother and his teacher, Nalini Singh from NSW Health - Fairfield Hospital, who nominated him for this award for his exceptional progress in the course and outstanding personal qualities. His application included a resume, a portfolio of questions, supporting statements from his VET teacher and our school, and an interview with Training Services NSW, making the process quite comprehensive.
The awards night featured seven categories, including VET Student of the Year Award, Apprentice & Trainee of the Year, School Based Apprentice & Trainee of the Year and Trainer of the Year, across three regions of NSW. It brought together students from public, Catholic, and private schools who have excelled at the Regional level in their VET fields. These awards are highly prestigious, recognising the top achievers in Vocational Pathways with TAFE or private providers and industry employers.
At 7.00pm Friday 20th June, Aziz Eryasar was awarded:
"VET Student of the Year Award" for the Sydney South West Region,
much to the joy of his mother, his teacher Nalini,
and our Careers Adviser, Mrs Reid, who watched via a zoom link.
This was a special moment and a first for Cecil Hills High School.
Aziz will now advance to the NSW State Finals, which will involve a further interview and presentation evening, with the winner to be announced in early September at Sydney Town Hall.
We congratulate Aziz on this remarkable achievement and wish him continued success in the next phase.
