Police Engaging with youth
Being responsible in the digital world was the focus for Year 7 and 8 students last week when they met with police Youth Engagement Officer Constable Sarah Stannett.
Constable Stannett engaged students through an informative presentation and discussion regarding their rights and responsibilities online and through social media, complementing information taught at school.
Students were also given the opportunity to ask general questions around rights and responsibilities in the community, and questions ranged from legality around e-scooters and e-bikes to what a typical day looks like for a police officer.
Constable Stannett will return in Term 3 to present to students in Years 9, 10 and 11, and discussing a variety of topics including the Young Offenders Act and ‘one punch laws’.
