Respectful, Responsible Successful

As Term 3 draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our students, staff, and families for their continued commitment and support throughout what has been another busy and rewarding term. From outstanding academic achievements to vibrant extracurricular activities, our school community has once again demonstrated a strong sense of purpose, pride and collaboration.  As we reflect on the many successes of the term, we also look ahead to Term 4 with optimism and determination, continuing our shared focus on student growth, wellbeing, and excellence.

Congratulations to our Inclusive Education Boccia Team!

We’re proud to celebrate the success of our Inclusive Education Boccia team, who took out first place in their division during last week’s competition in Minto! This fantastic achievement is a testament to the dedication of our students and the outstanding support provided by Mr McSwiggan and our incredible support staff. The team will now advance to the State Finals on 31 July in Homebush—best of luck, we’ll be cheering you on!

Celebrating Student Achievement - Liana Luong

Congratulations to Liana Luong on her outstanding sporting achievements! Liana has been selected to represent NSW at the 2025 School Sport Australia U18 All Schools Football Championship, to be held in Moreton Bay, Queensland. In addition to this incredible honour, this week she has taken part in the Football Australia FIFA Talent Development Scheme.

We are extremely proud of Liana’s dedication and success, and we wish her all the best in these exciting opportunities.

Sydney Academy of Chess Tournament Success

A big thank you to Mr Chandler for accompanying our students to the recent Sydney Academy of Chess Tournament.

Congratulations to our team on achieving an impressive Third Place! Well done to all involved for their hard work and great sportsmanship.

Recognition in NSW Parliament

We are proud to share that one of our students was recently acknowledged in the NSW Parliament. This special mention is a testament to their outstanding achievements and the positive impact they are making in our school and wider community.

Being recognised at this level is a significant honour, and we congratulate Nathan on this well deserved recognition.

Ms CHARISHMA KALIYANDA, State Member for Liverpool (18:51):

Tonight I congratulate Year 11 student -  Nathan Lee from Cecil Hills High School, who recently represented Sydney South West at the NSW Combined High Schools Rugby Union Carnival in Singleton.

Nathan was the only student from his school selected to compete, which is an extraordinary achievement in itself.  Over three days, he and his teammates played five matches against strong opposition from across nine regions of New South Wales, finishing fifth in the State.

I am told that he plays loosehead but can also play tighthead and hooker. The talent runs in the family, with his dad and older brother also enthusiastic rugby players. Nathan's success is a testament to his dedication, perseverance and sporting talent. His commitment to training and teamwork has paid off, and he should be immensely proud of representing our community at such a high level. It is not the first time. He has represented Fiji in the Pasifika Cup twice.

Nathan is a young man on the move,

looking to dedicate his time to studies

and rugby, and he is proud to represent the South-West and Cecil Hills High School.

Well done, Nathan!

Year 12 - The Final Term begins

In Term 3 our Year 12 students enter their final term of high school.  We acknowledge the significance of this milestone and the hard work they have already put in throughout their senior years.

This final stage is crucial, and maintaining strong attendance, consistent study habits, and a healthy life balance will be key to their success.

We encourage all Year 12 students to stay focused, seek support when needed, and make the most of the time remaining.  We are proud of their efforts so far and look forward to supporting them through this important and exciting chapter.

Parent Teacher and Subject Selection wrap up

Thank you to all our parents, carers and students who attended our recent Parent Teacher and Subject Selection evenings. These events play a vital role in strengthening the partnership between home and school, and we value the opportunity to connect, share progress and support informed decision-making for each student’s learning journey.

Strong communication and collaboration are key to student success, and your engagement reflects our shared commitment to that goal.

A sincere thank you also to our dedicated staff for their time, preparation and ongoing support of our students and their families.

The Writing Democracy Challenge

In 2024, our students took part in The Writing Democracy Challenge, a statewide letter-writing initiative for Years 7–10 students in NSW public schools. This valuable program encourages young people to engage with meaningful social issues while developing their writing, critical thinking, and persuasive communication skills. Through the challenge, students gain a deeper understanding of how democracy works in practice and learn how to become active, informed citizens. Most importantly, it empowers them to use their voice to address issues that matter to them, their school, and their wider community. We will be participating again this year and will be seeking expressions of interest from students early in Term 3.

I’d like to thank our students, staff, and families for their ongoing support and commitment. I wish everyone a safe, restful break and look forward to welcoming you all back refreshed and ready for Term 3.
