Celebrating Culture and Community at NAIDOC Week Event

On Tuesday 1 July, our students visited St Xavier's School in Gunnedah to participate in their vibrant NAIDOC Week celebrations. We were met with the warmest of welcomes and truly felt at home throughout the day.

St Xavier's shared the deep meaning and importance of NAIDOC Week. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the ceremony, which featured a smoking ceremony, flag-raising, cake cutting and a cultural dance performance by talented students from Gunnedah High School.

Following the assembly, our students enjoyed a delicious piece of celebration cake and recess break, exploring the playground and forging new friendships. The cultural exchange continued as they joined St. Xavier's students in classroom activities within their respective year groups, creating wonderful craft projects.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to St. Xavier's School for this fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate Country together. It was a truly memorable and enriching experience for all.

During our visit to St Xavier's, we also took the opportunity to sincerely thank Mrs Jensen for her support in working with our students last year to plan our school artwork for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Conference. We also expressed our greatest thanks to Ms Hayne, who designed and painted our artwork. She was so clever in incorporating aspects from every student's plan. Thank you again to these incredible educators!

Eisteddfod Champions Celebrate with Pizza and Hot Chip Lunch

It was wonderful to see our Eisteddfod champions enjoying delicious pizza and hot chips at the end of last term to celebrate their Eisteddfod win. Judging by the happy faces (and empty plates!), it was enjoyed by all.

A huge congratulations once again to all our students who participated in the Gunnedah Eisteddfod – you truly made us proud!
