We’ve made it to Week 11—the last week of Term 2! It’s been a jam-packed term full of learning, and this final week is no exception, with plenty of exciting activities and special events to finish things off on a high note.
This week we celebrated Science Week with some hands-on experiments that sparked lots of curiosity and excitement! We began by discovering how to make an egg bounce—after soaking an egg in vinegar overnight, the shell disappeared, and we could gently drop it from a small height and watch it bounce! Well they were supposed to bounce but poor Mrs Moore's egg went splat! Next, we got messy mixing Borax, cornflour, warm water and glue to make our own bouncy balls. Finally, inspired by Da Vinci’s clever design, we watched a video and then used planks of wood to construct bridges without glue or nails. Our Year 3 engineers rose to the challenge and created some fantastic, weight-bearing designs!
Our Year 3 Australian Expo was a huge success! The students were buzzing with excitement as they set up their colourful presentation tables, filled with eye-catching posters, interesting brochures, informative line graphs and some very tricky question-and-answer boxes. We were especially impressed by the creative models made at home—what a great effort! During the middle of the day, students from all year levels came to visit, and it was wonderful to see so many parents drop in later to admire the hard work and thoughtful research that went into each display. We all walked away having learnt something new about the amazing places we have around Australia!

Next Monday, 30th June, we’re celebrating Go Green Day! Students are invited to wear green clothes to show their support for the environment—no donation money is needed. During the day, classes will help clean up a designated area of the school as part of our sustainability efforts. The Student Council Representatives (SCR) will also be running a fun Scavenger Hunt to get everyone involved. Let’s go green together!
