Barwon Junior Debating Competition
On Wednesday 25th June, our two Year 6 debating teams travelled to Bellbrae Primary School for the second round of the Barwon Junior Debating Competition. The topic was That All Social Media Platforms Should Have an Age Limit for Use. Chilwell A (Annabeth, Alexia, Landon and Humza) argued for the negative against Bellbrae A and Chilwell B (Olivia, Isla, Sienna and Bonny) argued for the affirmative against Bellbrae B. They were high quality debates, with persuasive arguments, relevant statistics and plenty of rebuttals from all sides. Chilwell A convincingly won their debate, with Alexia winning the Best Speaker award. Chilwell B put in a stellar effort, only to be beaten by Bellbrae B by just one point. Well done to all our debaters, who have put in many hours of preparation and practise. We are now getting ready for the next two unprepared rounds in Term 3. Students will only have 30 minutes to prepare their speeches before doing the debate, so they will require plenty of teamwork, discipline and brainpower!

Artefacts of the Future
Using art to envisage a more sustainable future.
Chilwell students and families are invited to come along to take part in an immersive Gordon Gallery experience and celebrate the great work of our Grade 6 Futurists. There will be activities to take part in for all ages. There will also be a videographer there on Wednesday the 9th July and we would love to see as many families as possible there on that day.
