We are always looking for ways to give our children the best start. As your child learns German with us, we want to share just how amazing language learning is for their growing minds!
Recently, Libby was fortunate to attend a professional learning seminar with other language teachers and parents to listen to and engage with neuroscience educator, Nathan Wallis.
He provided invaluable insights into the neuroscience behind language acquisition and talks about how experiences, including learning another language, shape our children's brains.
Here are some powerful insights from Nathan Wallis on how language shapes young brains: Learning a second language isn't just about new words; it actually builds a stronger, more fl exible brain.
● Smarter Thinkers: Kids who learn another language become better at problem-solving and thinking creatively. Their brains get a great workout switching between languages!
● Better Focus: Managing two languages helps children concentrate more and ignore distractions. This is a huge help for all their learning.
● Stronger Memory: The mental effort of language learning boosts memory and their ability to follow instructions.
● Understanding Our World: In today's connected world, knowing another language helps children understand different cultures. It builds empathy and prepares them to be confi dent, global citizens.
This incredible brain development makes us refl ect on our own exposure to other languages and cultures, and our personal language learning journeys. As we always say, when you move between languages, you make connections and build new synapses in your brains.
Our German program isn't just a 50-minute lesson each week. It is about helping your child build cultural awareness and make connections with the languages they know and experience in their everyday interactions with others. Through learning a second language, we develop crucial skills for life.
As our students at LNPS learn German, they're improving their problem-solving skills, appreciation for different cultures, as well as their memory and attention. We're passionate about the opportunities our German program offers your children. Let's work together to help them become curious, adaptable, and globally-minded learners!
