TERM 2 WEEK 10 2025

Semester 1 Wrap Up

As another action-packed term draws to a close, we'd like to take this moment to congratulate everyone on a fantastic first semester of 2025!

Schools today are fast-paced and full of change, and our students at LNPS continue to rise to the challenge.

Each day, they are immersed in rich and rigorous learning experiences that foster:

  • Literacy: Building strong reading, writing and communication skills
  • Numeracy: Developing problem-solving, fluency, and real-world maths applications
  • Dispositions: explicitly teaching our Learner Qualities to develop lifelong learners

We are incredibly proud of their growth, effort and engagement this semester.

Post-Pandemic Realities: What We’re Noticing

Even as we move forward, South Australia continue to see some lasting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic across schools:

  • Screen Time Habits

Many students still rely heavily on digital devices for entertainment, which can affect attention span, behaviour, and emotional regulation.

  • Relaxed Routines

The unstructured nature of home learning during lockdowns led to shifts in routines, bedtimes, and expectations. Some students are still adjusting back to consistent habits.

  • Absenteeism on the Rise

With off-site learning once being the norm, we’re now seeing more students missing school, often viewing attendance as flexible. This directly impacts progress and confidence.

  • Digital Overload in Learning

Technology remains an important tool, but over-reliance can lead to reduced handwriting, less time reading physical books, and fewer hands-on learning experiences.

How is LNPS responding?

Our staff have responded to these challenges with innovation, care and commitment.

Here’s how we are supporting students to reconnect and thrive:

  • Having clear routines and expectations in every classroom

  • Actively promoting and celebrating consistent school attendance

  • Encouraging a balance between digital tools and traditional learning approaches

  • Prioritising student wellbeing and connection and belonging

  • Providing learning that is both challenging and supportive, so that every student is stretched and supported

Our students are more confident, more settled, and more engaged as a result.

The Pursuit of Excellence – Our Shared Goal

At LNPS, our core value of the Pursuit of Excellence shines through in the way:

  • Our teachers plan and deliver meaningful, high-impact learning

  • Our students set goals, overcome challenges, and keep growing

  • Our families support learning at home and in partnership with us

Together, we are fostering a school community that is strong, united, and future-focused.

Thank You, Families

Your support makes all the difference. Whether it’s getting your child to school each day, attending events, or simply having a conversation about learning at home, you are helping make this a memorable and meaningful semester.

We look forward to sharing more success and growth in the next term!

Melissa has been working as an SSO at Westport Primary School for over 8 years, and comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience.

We also farewell Jewels, who has been working at the LNPS OSHC and as an SSO at the school for the last 12 months. Jewels is moving to sunny Queensland.

Early Dismissal and PFD

Just a reminder that we have a Whole School Assembly at 1:10pm and early dismissal at 2:10pm this Friday.

We encourage everyone to take full advantage of the upcoming winter break by relaxing, recharging, and spending quality time with loved ones. We look forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready for a successful second semester!
