🌏 Refugee Week 2025 – Finding Freedom: Diversity in Community 🌏

Refugee Week begins on Sunday, June 15, and this year’s theme, “Finding Freedom: Diversity in Community”, invites us to reflect on what it truly means to live freely, safely, and with dignity.

At Springvale Rise Primary School, we are proud to be part of a wonderfully diverse school community, where many of our students, their families and our staff have come to Australia seeking safety, opportunity, and a new beginning. Refugee Week is an opportunity for us to come together in solidarity, to honour the stories, strengths, and cultures of refugees and people seeking asylum—and to learn more about the journeys that have brought them here.

Throughout the week, students and staff will engage in a range of learning experiences that explore key ideas of:

  • Freedom from fear, conflict, or persecution

  • The importance of belonging and acceptance

  • Respect for human rights and dignity

  • Celebrating the strength found in diversity

These learning opportunities aim to deepen understanding, spark empathy, and build a culture of inclusion and respect—values that are at the heart of our school.

As a school, we see Refugee Week as a time not only for reflection, but also for celebration. It’s a time to recognise the enormous contributions refugees make to our community, and to affirm our shared commitment to equity, respect, and opportunity for all.

We encourage families to continue these conversations at home—whether it’s through reading stories together, exploring cultural traditions, or simply sharing your family stories of journey, courage, and hope.Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate community—one where diversity is celebrated, and freedom is a shared experience.

Foundation Enrolments for 2026 Now Open

As we begin planning for the 2026 school year, we kindly ask families with children starting Foundation next year to complete enrolment forms before the end of Term 2.

If you have friends, neighbours, or extended family members who are considering enrolling their child at Springvale Rise Primary School, please encourage them to visit one of the  offices to collect an enrolment pack and begin the process.

  • Enrolment forms are available from the office
  • Interpreters are available to support families who need assistance with translation
  • School tours can be arranged upon request – we welcome the opportunity to show new families around!

Early enrolments help us plan staffing, class structures, and transition programs to ensure a smooth start for our newest students. We look forward to welcoming the next group of Foundation learners and their families to our school community!

Mid-Year Reports

Mid-Year Student Reports will be available on Compass from Monday, 30th June. These reports provide valuable insights into your child’s learning progress and achievements during the first half of the year.

Families will also have the opportunity to meet with teachers during Parent Teacher Interviews on Wednesday, 2nd July.  These conversations are a great way to discuss your child’s progress and celebrate their efforts and achievements.  If you are unable to attend your scheduled interview time, please contact the school office to arrange an alternative time.  We look forward to connecting with you and continuing our strong partnership in your child’s learning journey.

Keep smiling,

Debbie Cottier
