Year 1/2 News

Literacy

This week in Writing students have been focusing on strengthening the mighty middle of their stories. We’ve been learning how to use dialogue to make our characters come alive, show how they feel, and move the story forward. By adding conversations between characters, students are learning to make their writing more engaging and realistic. It’s been wonderful to see their creativity shine as they experiment with speech marks, punctuation, and using dialogue to build excitement and tension in their narratives!

Resilience Project

Recently in Resilience Project, Grade 1/2 students have been  focusing on understanding the difference between wants and needs and practising gratitude for the things we already have.

Through stories, discussions and activities, students have been encouraged to reflect on what is truly important in their lives and to recognise how being grateful can make us feel happier and more content. We’ve had some wonderful conversations about simple things we often take for granted—like family, friends, a safe place to live and the opportunities we have each day.

It’s been inspiring to see students share their ideas and express their gratitude, helping them build empathy, perspective and positive habits for wellbeing.
