School Sport Victoria Athletics State Day
This week we have a report from Zoe S -Year 6 who wrote on behalf of her classmates when reflecting on their experience of the State Athletics Championships.
On the 6th of November the State Athletics was held at Lakeside Athletics track, Albert Park. Myself and three other students, Kayleigh, Allegra and Annalise participated in a 4x100m relay. My first event of the day was the 100m sprint. There were 2 heats in my age group. I placed 2nd in my heat which meant I qualified straight to the final.
Then it was time for all of us to prepare for the 4x100m relay. We were all super eager and excited to race. The competition was extremely tough. We all tried super hard and finished 4th place in our heat. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful to advance to the final. My next event was the 100m final. Unfortunately I injured my leg in my 100m heat and was hampered throughout the final where I finished either 5th or 6th. As a result I also pulled out of the 200m event that I was scheduled to compete in. I was really happy to be representing St Martin's at State.

Basketball Victoria Senior (5/6) Hooptime Regional Finals
Having progressed through the Hooptime District Finals at the end of Term 3, both our girls and boys teams competed on Monday 10th November in the Hooptime Regional Finals played at the Diamond Valley Basketball Stadium.
The boys played three pool games successfully accounting for Hazelglen College 30 to 26, St Francis of Assisi 28 to 7 and finally defeating Eltham North Primary 27 to 21. The boys finished top of their pool and qualified for the Quarter Finals playing against Strathmore North Primary School in a low scoring game. Unfortunately the team could not maintain their momentum and finished two points short, 11 to 13. The team should feel proud of their achievements this year, knowing that their best basketball is up there with the very best teams in our region.

Special thanks to our parent group that came along to support the girls and the boys and especially to Sean O’Connor for scoring throughout the day.
Our girls team showed incredible determination this season, making it through to the Hoop Time Grand Final by just one percent after some challenging early rounds. The girls rose to the occasion brilliantly, defeating Banyule in a hard-fought Grand Final to earn their place at the Hoop Time Regionals. There, they faced a much taller and very competitive St Francis of Assisi team in the first round of finals and, despite the loss, displayed outstanding effort and sportsmanship. It has been a joy to coach them and share in their journey this year. They also progressed to the Interschool Sports Regionals, where they put in a spirited performance but unfortunately, didn't progress any further.
