Prep Incursion: Discovering How Toys Move

This week our Prep students took part in an exciting incursion all about movement and toys. The children explored a wide range of toys and discovered how each one moves in its own unique way. Rolling, spinning, bouncing, sliding and more. They loved investigating the different parts that help toys move, such as wheels, axles, springs and push–pull mechanisms.

A highlight of the incursion was the hands-on play. Students had the chance to test out the toys themselves, experimenting, predicting and observing how they worked. There was plenty of laughter and curiosity as they compared how different toys reacted when pushed, pulled or spun.To finish the session, each child created their very own ‘spinny toy.’They enjoyed designing, decorating and testing their creations, proudly watching them twirl and move.

It was a wonderful learning experience that combined science, creativity and play and our Prep students absolutely loved it!

Year 3 Science Incursion 

Last week, the Year 3 students had an exciting time at our Inquiry Incursion, called ‘Crazy Chemicals’ through a range of hands-on science activities. 

Using everyday materials, students investigated how solids, liquids, and gases behave and interact in fascinating ways. 

Half of the session was spent at dry tables, where they explored a range of scientific toys and objects, sparking curiosity about how different materials behave. The other half took place at wet tables, where students launched mini rockets and made slime, bringing chemistry to life in exciting ways.
