Orientation Events: Welcoming New Families to Our Community
This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming new parents and students during our Orientation Days, preparing them for their journey into the Senior School and Boarding House in 2026. The atmosphere was joyful and warm, reflecting the true spirit of our Loreto community.
On Sunday, our current boarders extended a sense of safety and confidence in families preparing to transition from home to boarding life in 2026. Our boarders revealed their tips and tricks for excelling in bench ball, revealed the fun realities of Sunday uniform washing antics and shared the anticipation of dessert nights every Tuesday and Thursday. A key part of enhanced connection in the boarding house is the termly changeover of room buddies. This helps to forge diverse friendships and support systems that will last throughout their time at Loreto.
On Monday, it was heartening to see the strong sense of sisterhood among our Year 6 students, who readily extended their friendship to Year 6 students transitioning from surrounding primary schools. Likewise, our Year 8-11 girls warmly welcomed new peers, demonstrating Mary Ward’s teaching of an open circle of friends. It was wonderful to witness our new girls feeling comfortable and welcome throughout their orientation of Senior School.
Overall, these orientation experiences were a beautiful reflection of our community's commitment to nurturing relationships and supporting one another. At Loreto, connection is a central component to supporting wellbeing and engagement, allowing all our girls to flourish. When students feel connected, they are more likely to thrive academically and socially, which is at the heart of our SEAD program and reason why orientation experience days are so important.
