PE Focus

Year 1/2 have begun their kicking unit, understanding the body mechanics involved in kicking a ball. This has been split into two types of kick; the Australian Rules type 'punt' and the Football style kick off the ground. Practice makes perfect and there is a long journey ahead to master this style of kicking, but I encourage those students to keep experimenting with the ball at home and they will be surprised at how much improvement they will see week to week!

3/4 Hoop Time

Last Wednesday the Year 3/4 traveled to Waverley stadium to partake in the yearly Hoop Time tournament. Most of our teams were in the 'Rookie" league; for some it was their first taste of basketball, so this tournament was a real learning curve.

I loved seeing the enthusiasm of the students as they improved from game to game - for my 'Phoenix' team, we were ecstatic with getting our first basket in the last game I'm sure when reminiscing of our  own sporting experiences, we still remember these small moments of success.

Well done Year 3/4 on a very successful tournament and representing our school wonderfully on the day!

Junior Athletics Carnival

To a cap a busy sporting week at BPPS, the Junior School had their Athletics Carnival as well. Every student enthusiastically participated in the events and smiled throughout!

Of course, it takes many hands to make a village and this event was supported by our wonderful Year 6 Heath Pillars who gave out instructions, modeled technique and warmly encouraged our Junior School cohort - it really made the day a special event for all those involved.

Also a big thank you from me for all those teachers who helped out with both the Hoop Time and Junior Athletics - you know who you are!
