Principal's Day
This week we celebrated Victorian Principal’s Day. It is an annual event to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution and hard work of leadership within schools. Students were involved in this event in different ways; writing cards and poems, sharing special moments or memories of Susanne and Shannon and speaking about them.
Our Principals’ enjoyed a morning tea organised by the staff as a way to acknowledge Ms. Lowe and Mrs. Reeve and the work that they do for our whole school community.
This Fortnight In Literacy and Integrated Studies
By Daniel C and Daniel S 6SB, and Jayden 6SC
We have been learning to identify features of slam poetry by comparing it to another form of public speaking. These features include themes, vocabulary, voice, and structure.
We have also been focusing on a range of poetry structures such as ballads, acrostic poems, couplets, and word play, including riddles. This term’s Reading Australia text is Limelight, a collection of slam poetry by author Solli Raphael. We have been enjoying our exploration of Limelight and are excited to learn more poetry structures like haikus and limericks.
This Fortnight in Numeracy
By Laani 6PW and Rachael 6SB
Over the past few weeks, Grade 6 students have been exploring probability while continuing their work on algebra and patterns. For probability, they have participated in a series of fun games, small tests, and other engaging activities, which they have thoroughly enjoyed. Students investigated two games - Cat and Mouse and Win at the Fair - exploring the probability of different outcomes and how the games could be altered to increase or decrease the likelihood of certain results.
Year 5 students have just begun their second unit for the year on decimals, starting with how to round numbers with more than two decimal places, and a hands on activity exploring decimals on a rope.

The Health Pillar and the Wellbeing Pillar did a fantastic job hosting the Junior Athletics Carnival. Students from Foundation to Grade Two participated in events such as high jump, relay races, hurdles, and the vortex throw. It was a great way for everyone to get active and enjoy the outdoors. Students loved trying new things and having fun!
The Arts Pillar has been busy organising the rock hunt and drawing competition, and has started making the props for this year’s production, The Amazing Adventures of Superstan.
The Environment Pillar has been hard at work with KGT, helping to make our school greener and cleaner every day.
And last, but certainly not least, the Admin Pillar, with help from the Library and Languages Pillar, organised our last whole-school assembly (it was a big one!) and have prepared this very page you’re reading right now!
All Grade 6 students have begun thinking about and writing the blurb they want to include in the yearbook at the end of the year, reflecting on all the great memories they have made at BPPS!
