DHS Sponsor Child
Donald High School has been for many years supporting Plan International, specifically a Cambodian Child LOY MAI. Loy Mai is 10 years old and lives in the Stung Treng area. Loy attends Primary School, and it takes him approximately 45 minutes to reach school. His favourite activities are local language and school club.
Loy has been healthy and has not suffered from any serious illness. The nearest health facility is about 30 minutes away.
Together we're working to create a more just world.
Only 26% of girls in Stung Treng are enrolled in upper secondary school. We will continue to advocate for high-quality education and help youth to transition through school to completion.
Rates of child marriage and early pregnancy are high. Improved knowledge on sexual and reproductive health and rights, especially for girls living in remote areas, will be the key this year.
Malnutrition is a concern for children, and 33% of children under five years of age are stunted. Through parenting groups, we will raise awareness on child nutrition and help link parents to health centre services for regular health checks.
Footy Colours Day
The SRC will be running a footy colours day on the 19th of September (last day of term).
There will be a gold coin donation going towards childhood cancer. They are also hoping to provide hot dogs and soft drink for lunch that day. There will be more information to come.
