What's Happening In Secondary

DCS Vocal Ensemble

The Vocal Ensemble has been active and growing this year.  Now firmly established at 25 members, the ensemble has added to its numbers steadily and is eager to attract talented students. Students are reading music in four-part harmony and learning a variety of repertoire including Pop, Art Song, Ethnic, Anzac and Gospel music to meet the needs of ministry  and community as they expand their outreach. 

To add to their program, soloists are welcome to perform Pop, Praise Music and Classical tunes as they grow in their musical ability and interest. And, several students have accompanied the group with guitar, bass guitar and drums as they deepen the Vocal Ensembles sound. Already the group has performed at the Easter Service, the Arts Week, Founders Day and most recently the High School Expo where they were praised for their strong tone and part singing by administrators, teachers and parents too.  

This week, they will sing four selections for their friends at “The Gathering” in the Jiloa Centre as part of the weekly service. They are looking forward to singing for the school audience and are learning to manage their stage fright by focusing on the message of the song and ministering to their classmates. 

Upcoming performances include an invitation to LifeWay Church in Devonport, Anzac Day and the Devonport Eisteddfod in 2026!
