Around the Junior School

BOOK WEEK PARADE
All are invited to a tremendous adventure on Friday 22nd August!
Participating students will be parading their costumes on the Main Drive from 1:40pm. Cars are encouraged to be parked at the Orange Function Centre and parents will have prime vantage point from the spacious lawn area on the Bathurst Rd side of the driveway. You are very welcome to bring a chair and we anticipate the parade concluding by 2:30pm.
Dress-up day – we invite all students to come dressed as a character from a book that takes them on an exciting adventure! This is an optional activity for students. If your child is not dressing up, they are to wear full school uniform. Mrs Pengilly encourages students to be creative and resourceful with their costumes. No need to go overboard—sometimes a simple accessory like a tie or wand is all it takes to bring a character to life!
Bring your book - students should bring the book their character is from. If the book isn’t available from the library, a printed copy of the front cover is perfectly fine.
Group costumes welcome - students are welcome to team up with friends and dress as characters from the same book—a fun way to bring stories to life together!
Any questions please don't hesitate to contact kwslibrary@kws.nsw.edu.au

Pre-Kinder
Science week in Pre-Kinder was filled with wonder, laughter and so much fun!
The children had the chance to take part in amazing hands-on experiments with our special guest, Professor Squigglebottom, who brought science to life in the most fun and engaging way. Together, the children explored, discovered, problem-solved, and even made their own predictions about what might happen next. It was wonderful to see their curiosity and excitement. A great week had by all.
Year 3 Science
This term, Year 3 have been exploring heat and light as part of our science unit. We have looked at popping pop corn, melting butter using different materials and how light energy impacts us. We were fortunate to visit the high school science labs this week to explore light boxes. Students investigated the behaviour of light reflecting on different surfaces, refraction of light with 3D shapes, mixing light colours and creating different treasure hunts to move light. We are very grateful to the year 10 students for helping us and for Mrs Gibson for organising our visit. We can't wait to return!
