DANCE

On Thursday 7 August our three Junior School dance ensembles took part in the schools’ dance sections at the Eisteddfod. Congratulations to all the students involved as well as Mrs Chapman, Miss Hamblin and the Year 11 and 12 students who assisted with the choreography and rehearsals. All sections were hotly contested with between 8 and 10 other schools in each section. Jitterbugs were awarded a Highly Commended for their Dreamer/Wake Me Up routine. Although the other ensembles didn’t place, Upbeats & Fusion danced with big smiles and plenty of enthusiasm. Their conduct both on and off the stage was impeccable. Congratulations to all involved.

SPEECH & DRAMA

The City of Orange Eisteddfod season, commenced with a full week of Speech and Drama sections. Students from the Junior School and the Senior School competed.

For some children it was their first experience of performing on stage at the Civic Theatre. They all rose to the challenge of standing alone and performing on such a large stage. For many children, it wasn’t a new experience and it was wonderful to see their increasing confidence and maturity.

There were many fine performances which were recognised by awards from the adjudicator who was very impressed by the level of excellence in our region.

Congratulations to all students who participated and to those who received medals and certificates. All students performed with energy, skill and great enthusiasm.
