Book Week - Book your Adventure
To celebrate Book Week 2025, Niangala students brought their favourite book characters to life in an explosion of colour and creativity! We had mermaids and fairies, a bull rider and a cowboy, and even Old MacDonald who left his farm for the day. There was a fierce warrior cat, a witch from Hogwarts, the Green Sheep, the Saucepan Man, and a witch on a broom! We even went on a bear hunt!
It was a magical and exciting day filled with imagination, laughter, and a true love of books.
Lake Keepit Excursion
Nine Niangala students from Kindergarten to Year 5 attended Small Schools Week at Lake Keepit Sport & Recreation Centre for a three-day, two-night excursion. Mrs Crawford transported the students and stayed with them throughout the action-packed adventure. The days were filled with exciting activities including canoeing, bike riding, archery, and conquering the slip-and-slide obstacle course. Everyone returned home exhausted but thrilled after such a fun and memorable experience.
Cooking
Cooking with Mrs Hunt - Whilst most of our students were on the Lake Keepit excursion, Matilda, Georgia and Ashton had a day of cooking with Mrs Hunt. They made pancakes for morning tea which were soft and fluffy and were delicious with either maple syrup or golden syrup. Matilda and Georgia then kindly made pizzas for the staff as well as themselves for lunch. Thank you to everyone involved with the cooking day!
Kindergarten Transition
We have welcomed two students to our transition program - Miley and Coby. They have been having a wonderful time learning our school routines and participating in learning activities. We hope you're enjoying your time at 'Big School'.
Melbourne Cup Parade
Melbourne Cup Parade - The Melbourne Cup parade was a great success. Our students proudly marched in the parade. We enjoyed looking at the artworks in the park and most importantly we had our photo taken with The Melbourne Cup! We would like to thank Mrs Wall for driving the bus to safely deliver us to town and back. Thank you to Miss Dunn and Mrs Grayling for accompanying us.
Mushrooms
Mushrooms update - Our mushrooms have pinned and they should soon be big enough to cook with. Stay tuned for the next update.
Green Thumbs
The Green Thumbs Update - The vegetable patch has enjoyed all of the rain and as a result the broad beans and rhubarb are growing well. Thank you to Pete and Eileen for donating seedlings to us - broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, brussel spouts, sorrel and cabbage. Most of these seedlings have been covered with a net in the garden to keep the cabbage moth away. Mrs Grayling also donated 4 strawberry plants. Georgia, Matilda and Ashton planted the seedlings and strawberry plants in the vegetable garden. We are enjoying watching them grow.
