Prep - Grade 2:
Our junior school has come alive with robotics this term.
Prep students have been taking their first steps into coding with Bee-Bots, exploring directional language and simple sequences. The celebrations when their robot reaches its target are simply wonderful!

Grade 1 and 2 students have stepped it up with Dash and Dot robots, planning grid map routes on paper before coding their robots to navigate missions, respond to voice commands, and loop repeating actions. Across both year levels, the excitement, curiosity, and pride in their work has been a highlight of the term.

This term, the Year 1/2 students are learning about mixtures. They have identified mixtures in their homes and brought some to school to show their classmates. Some students even invented their own mixtures!
The Year 5/6 students are exploring chemistry, and have begun learning about elements on the periodic table. They enjoyed using Lego to represent the elements, to create different chemical compounds and mixtures.

Over the first weeks of Term 2, we have been focusing on clothing vocabulary. Younger students have been practicing how to describe the colours of different items of clothing, while older students have been working on grammar rules to match gender and number when describing items (e.g., making sure adjectives agree with masculine/feminine and singular/plural forms). Students have also learned how to say "there is / there are" and "to wear" in the target language and have practiced expressing their knowledge in different ways.
Over the next few weeks, we will be learning food vocabulary as well as the days of the week, with the help of The Very Hungry Caterpillar told in different languages.

This term, our Year 3 and Year 4 enrichment groups have been keeping very busy!
Some students have continued consolidating their French grammar skills, with a particular focus on the passé composé — brought to life through fun and engaging educational games such as the Pink Panther and the Knights game.
Meanwhile, others have embarked on a truly exciting new project. Inspired by Bernard Friot's wonderful collection Les Histoires Pressées, our budding broadcasters are working towards creating their very own podcasts. From crafting short, imaginative stories to recording and producing them, the students are developing their creativity, oral expression and digital skills all at once.

We can't wait to share the final results with you — stay tuned! 🎙️
Our Grade 3 to 6 French Enrichment class presented at assembly last week and impressed everyone with how much they have learned already! Well done students, well done Mr. Berraud !

On Friday 15th May, CJC celebrated Teach the Teacher day. Some classes had students teaching their teachers, senior classes played blookets that were for the teacher to play - or it was about the teachers, for the students to enjoy! The Juniors played fun activities, and every student enjoyed dressing up as a teacher! Some school staff members also enjoyed dressing up as one of us! Thanks to everyone who brought a gold coin donation to support State Schools’ Relief!
